DGP writes to senior officers about mounting desertions
  • Director General of Police T.K Rajendran has written to senior police officers across Tamil Nadu seeking to know why there was an increase in the number of police personnel deserting the force.

TNCC calls for strike
  • Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president Su. Thirunavukkarasar called for a one-day strike to put pressure on the Centre to form the Cauvery Management Board.

Kerala :

2,266 SC illiterates in State
  • The first phase of Navachetana, a project launched by the Kerala State Literacy Mission Authority to wipe out illiteracy among the Scheduled Caste (SC) population, has found 2,266 illiterates above the age of 15 in the State.
Minister to hold meeting with nursing staff
  • The Superintendent of MCH said all nurses/nursing assistants/attenders who are not on duty on Saturday should attend the meeting. He said that as part of improving the emergency wing, 10 trolleys and five wheelchairs have been newly bought and that orders have been placed for acquiring 50 more trolleys.

  • Budding archer T. Kalyan from Mulakalapalli has bagged an opportunity to represent the State men’s archery team in the Senior National Archery Championship to be held in Pune from April 4 to 13.
CS wants railway projects to be expedited
  • The government would take all necessary steps to clear the hurdles in the way of taking up the proposed ₹380-crore Overhauling Wagon Shed by the South Central Railway (SCR) at Kazipet by acquiring the necessary land, said Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi .
Kaleshwaram project gets praise
  • Stating that the MMD would emerge as heart of KLIP, he said that the MMD with storage capacity of 26 tmcs would act as balancing reservoir for Kaleshwaram project for the lifting of the water to the upland regions of Karimnagar, Medak and Ranga Reddy districts.

CBSE question paper leak: economics re-test on April 25
  • School Education Secretary Anil Swarup said on March 30 that a re-examination for economics would be held nationwide on April 25. Re-exam for 10th Standard math paper only for Delhi, NCR, Haryana region.
13 Joint Secretaries appointed
  • The Union government March 30 appointed 13 Joint Secretaries to various Ministries. Among those who figure on the list is a Karnataka- cadre Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Ritvik Pandey, who has been appointed Joint Secretary in the Department of Revenue.
Karmapa allowed to visit Sikkim
  • The second highest Tibetan spiritual leader and 17th Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, who lives in the Gyuto Monastery at Sidhbari in Dharamsala, has been allowed to visit Sikkim.

Russia to expel 60 US diplomats, close US consulate in Saint Petersburg
  • Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on March 30 that Moscow would expel 60 U.S. diplomats and close its consulate in Saint Petersburg in a tit-for-tat expulsion over the poisoning of ex-double agent Sergei Skripal.
US wants visa applicants to submit phone, email, social media details
  • The Trump administration wants all US visa applicants to submit details of their previous phone numbers, email addresses and social media histories as part of its “vetting” practice and to prevent entry of individuals who might pose a threat to the country.
Multiple H1B applications would attract rejection
  • The USCIS asserted that speculative employment was not permitted and that a single employer “may not file more than one cap-subject petition for the same beneficiary even if there is a legitimate business need.”
