Manpreet Kaur wins shot put gold at Asian Grand Prix, leads world rankings

Shot putter Manpreet Kaur’s outstanding performance in the first leg of the Asian Grand Prix in Jinhua, China, helped her take No 1 spot in the world rankings.

Manpreet’s gold medal winning performance of 18.86m turned out to be a world leading throw. She pushed Olympic champion Michelle Carter of USA to second spot, whose best throw this season was 18.54m recorded on April 15, in Austin.

Nadal wins historic 10th Monte Carlo title

Rafael Nadal won the Monte Carlo Masters for a record-breaking 10th time with a dominant 6-1, 6-3 defeat of Spanish compatriot Albert Ramos-Vinolas

It was Nadal's first title in almost a year and further cemented his place in history as he became the first man in the Open era to win the same event 10 times.

Chris Gayle, the brutal and entertaining Jamaican hard-hitter, is now in an elite club of his own – one for those with 10,000 T20 runs.

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB’s) Gayle became the first entrant of the exclusive club as he reached 3 against the Gujarat Lions in their 2017 Indian Premier League (IPL) match

It was at Indore that Sachin Tendulkar became the first cricketer to score 10,000 runs in One-Day Internationals in 2001. Also, Sunil Gavaskar became the first person to score 10,000 Test runs in Ahmedabad against Pakistan in 1987.

India jumps to 8th place on Global FDI Confidence Index

India has jumped one spot to rank 8th in the 2017 AT Kearney Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Confidence Index with 31 percent of the surveyed respondents being more optimistic on economic outlook over the next three years.

Investor confidence in India has been growing steadily over the last two years, making it one of the top two emerging market performers on the FDI Index

Pankaj Advani beats Sourav Kothari to win Asian Billiards Championship

Pankaj Advani, 16-time world champion, won his seventh Asian title by defeating Sourav Kothari 6-3 in an entertaining final of the Asian Billiards Championship

The other title being 6-red snooker which he won last year.

Advani now returns home to Bangalore for four days to switch to snooker before taking off for Doha to compete in the Asian Snooker Championship which begins on the April 22.
